AND WE PRAY FOR THE CONVERSION OF [fill in the blank] TO CHRIST, OR A RE-COMMITMENT TO CHRIST

Prayers 🙏 for Pastor Simon Yohanna : his wife, Mercy, and daughter, Talita, were kidnapped on Nov. 9, 2025,

while traveling along the Buratai-Biu-Bunu Yadi road. He said their captors recently threatened to kill Mercy and sell Talita if he failed to pay 50 million naira (roughly $33,500). ..

The specific circumstances surrounding their continuous abduction highlight the severe conditions they face:

The Abduction

• Targeted Identity: Mercy and Talita were traveling along the Buratai-Biu-Bunu Yadi road on November 9, 2025, to attend her brother's wedding in Maiduguri, Borno State. Pastor Simon Yohanna stated that Mercy was selectively pulled out of a commercial transport vehicle because she is a Christian. [

• Prolonged Silence: Following the abduction, the family heard nothing regarding their status or location for nearly a year until the captors established contact via WhatsApp in September 2026.

Captivity & Proof of Life

• Conditions: Pastor Simon was briefly granted a phone connection to hear his wife's voice and was sent a photograph as "proof of life". He noted that she appeared severely emaciated and traumatized, wearing the exact same clothes she had on when she was taken.

• Broader Hostage Situation: According to information the pastor received, the militants are holding an estimated 70 other Christians. He reported that five other captives were released on October 19, 2026, after their respective families successfully paid ransoms.

Financial and Domestic Strain

• Fluctuating Ransom Demands: While the initial demand communicated to Truth Nigeria was ₦50 million (roughly $33,500), local council official Barka Iliyasu reported that negotiators managed to lower the demand through intermediaries down to ₦15 million and eventually ₦12 million (approx. $8,900).

• Family Displace-ment: Pastor Simon cannot raise the funds. Having already been forced out of his ministry and community after Boko Haram destroyed his church in Borno, he currently lives as a displaced refugee in Mubi, Adamawa State, where he struggles to feed and care for his three remaining children alone.

• Lack of State Response: The family and local leaders have publicly pleaded with Nigerian federal authorities and Senator Ali Ndume for intervention, citing the state's constitutional obligation to protect its citizens, but have reported receiving no official response or assistance.
